Originally from Salt Lake City, Utah, Sam moved to New York City at the beginning of 2015 to pursue his dream of becoming an actor. After four years in the BFA Musical Theatre program at Otterbein University in Columbus, Ohio, and 10 weeks as an intern at Tara Rubin Casting, Sam’s ambition to become a successful actor has hit an all time high.

Growing up during the era of classic Disney movies, Sam, like so many others, found joy in singing the tunes of his favorite heroes and villains. He joined the Salt Lake Children’s Choir at the age of seven, singing with the group until puberty caused his voice to CRACK, forcing his “graduation.” He was active in his high school’s musical theatre program, playing the roles of Pippin and Jean Valjean during that time.

Sam matriculated into Otterbein University’s BFA Musical Theatre program, where he quickly discovered that while talent is important for success, hard work and dedication are even more essential. Sam was rewarded for demonstrating these virtues by being cast in the roles of El Gallo in The Fantasticks, John Dodge in Middletown, and Dick in Dames at Sea. Sam also realized that his love for the theater stretched beyond acting, as he was given the opportunity to direct an advanced workshop of Martin McDonagh’s The Pillowman, and, with the help of his classmates, wrote a comedic piece about the struggles of being both “Bro” and “Broadway.”

Sam’s other interests include playing, watching, and reading about basketball. He also loves rap music, and he is often caught dancing or rapping along to his favorite artists. Sam finds solitude in working out; he holds a 3rd degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do.
